Scheduled Virtual Visits

By Jorge Gomez

DHA is taking virtual healthcare to the next level with the launch of its new Scheduled Virtual Visits platform, a significant improvement over the legacy MHS Video Connect system. Designed to provide even greater convenience, accessibility, and user-friendly features, this upgraded platform ensures that beneficiaries can seamlessly connect with their healthcare providers from the comfort of their homes or anywhere with an internet connection. Whether you’re managing a chronic condition, seeking follow-up care, or addressing non-emergency health concerns, Scheduled Virtual Visits build on the foundation of MHS Video Connect to deliver a smoother, more efficient virtual care experience.

What’s New and Improved?

Scheduled Virtual Visits enhance the capabilities of MHS Video Connect by offering:

  • Simplified Scheduling: Easier appointment booking directly through your healthcare provider’s office or online portals.
  • Enhanced User Experience: A more intuitive interface for both patients and providers, making virtual visits more accessible for all users.
  • Expanded Accessibility: Improved compatibility across devices, including smartphones, tablets, and computers, ensuring you can join appointments from virtually anywhere.
  • Stronger Security: Advanced encryption and privacy features to protect your personal health information.

What Are Scheduled Virtual Visits?

Scheduled Virtual Visits are secure, real-time video appointments with your healthcare provider. They are ideal for a variety of non-urgent medical needs, such as:

  • Routine follow-ups
  • Medication management
  • Chronic condition monitoring
  • Mental health consultations
  • Minor illnesses or injuries

How It Works

  1. Schedule an Appointment: Contact your healthcare provider to request a virtual visit. Many providers now offer the option to schedule these appointments directly through their office or online portals.
  2. Prepare for Your Visit: Ensure you have a reliable internet connection, a device with a camera and microphone (such as a smartphone, tablet, or computer), and a quiet, private space for your appointment.
  3. Join the Virtual Visit: At your scheduled time, log in to the secure platform provided by your healthcare provider. Your provider will join the session, and you’ll be able to discuss your health concerns just as you would during an in-person visit.
  4. Follow-Up as Needed: After your virtual visit, your provider may prescribe medications, recommend further tests, or schedule follow-up appointments as necessary.

Benefits of Scheduled Virtual Visits

  • Convenience: Access care from anywhere, eliminating the need for travel and reducing time away from work or family.
  • Accessibility: Ideal for beneficiaries in remote locations or those with mobility challenges.
  • Safety: Minimize exposure to illnesses by avoiding crowded waiting rooms.
  • Continuity of Care: Maintain regular contact with your healthcare provider, ensuring consistent management of your health.

Is a Virtual Visit Right for You?

While Scheduled Virtual Visits are a convenient option for many healthcare needs, they are not suitable for emergencies or conditions that require hands-on care. If you’re unsure whether a virtual visit is appropriate for your situation, contact your healthcare provider for guidance.

Getting Started

To take advantage of this upgraded platform, reach out to your healthcare provider to inquire about virtual visit options. Many providers are now equipped to offer this service, making it easier than ever to integrate virtual care into your healthcare routine.

Scheduled Virtual Visits represent a significant step forward in modernizing healthcare delivery for the Fort Riley community.
